Fifth grade is an exciting year when students are introduced to many new concepts while expanding the knowledge and skills gained in their earlier academic years. Huge focuses for the year are the writing process, fractions, the American Revolution – just to name a few.
In addition to developing their skillset academically, students will be part of a "class family" where they will gain an appreciation and respect each other, themselves, property, the environment, children, and the teachers. We focus on organization and establishing routines while learning in a fun, interactive setting.
Hello. My name is Shannon Bellison. I have been teaching at OLG for 17 years now. I have three amazing children. Brandon is 11 years old and the twins, Mason and Jonathan, are 8. I enjoy spending time with my family. We love camping, going to amusement parks, and attending A’s games. With any spare time I have, I love reading, scrapbooking, and finding ways to be creative.
I attended CalState Hayward to earn my BA degree and then received a multiple subject teaching credential from CalState Teach through CalState Monterey Bay. Teaching is my passion. In addition to being the fifth-grade teacher, I am one of the Vice Principals, a Student Council Moderators, and head the No Bully program. I am lucky to be able to work with students on all grade levels.
I feel so blessed to be working with the students at OLG. OLG is truly my extended family.
Below you will find photos of some of the learning taking place in our classroom. The 5th graders have been working hard at showing what they know through Kahoots, oral presentations, and creative News Broadcasts. Way to go 5th graders! We are so proud of you!!
