TK:
recognize all 26 letters of the alphabet and identify
one sound for each.
write all uppercase and lowercase letters.
blend letter-sounds to decode (read) words.
segment letter-sound to encode (spell) words.
recognize rhyming words and word family patterns.
Sort common objects into categories
Begin to understand and question words ie: (who, what where, why, how).
Recognize rhyming words.
Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables and sounds.
Kindergarten
Students will:

read 66 high-frequency words.
understand synonyms, antonyms and how to categorize words.
read and comprehend literary and informational texts.
be introduced to writing mechanics, writing process and types of writing (narrative, opinion, informa-tive/explanatory).
work in center based themes.
write his or her own name with capital and lower case letters.
form capital and lower case letters correctly.
participate in pre-writing activities.
draw a picture and describe it.
write 3 sentences on a topic.
follow oral instructions (up to 2).
listen attentively when the teacher reads or speaks.

Math
Kindergarten:
Students will:
recognize numbers (0 to 20).
write numbers correctly (0 to 20).
recognize and count ordinal numbers to 20.
use manipulatives to solve problems.
compare sets to identify which is equal to, more than, or less than.
understand and describe simple addition and subtraction problems.
identify, sort, and classify objects according to shape, size, and color.
be exposed to a variety of hands-on activities to develop life-long math skills.
TK
Students will:
Know number names and the count sequence
Count by ones to 20
Begin counging by tens
Begin to write numbers 0-20
Begin to count forwards and backwards froma given number (instead of beginning at 1)
Coutn to answer "how many?" questions about things arranged in configurations (such as lines and circles)
Begin to understnad simple addtion and subtraction
Correctly name and identify 2D shapes
Identify some 3D shapes
Next Generation Science
Students will:
identify characteristics of living things.
describe relationships between plant/animal parts and their functions.
investigate and describe how light and sound travel.
make predictions based on apparent movement of the sun, moon and stars.
be exposed to many cross-curricular activities that require hands-on experiences with technology.
begin keyboarding skills
learn basic computer skills.
Social Studies
Students will:
understand the importance of community: school, city, state and world.
develop good citizenship.
acquire primary map skills.
be exposed to geography at the state, country and world levels.
focus on understanding importance of national holidays and inspiring Americans.
